Toe box is "secure"

The Montrail "Fit Chart" on this web site incorrectly specifies that this shoe has a "generous fit" in the "ball girth." In fact, it is "secure."

Works well in wild and wonderful West Virginia

Whether my running group is sharing the rugged Hatfield-McCoy trails with the ATVs or we're feeling adventurous, road running with the coal trucks, it's almost heaven in my Fairhavens-and I'm an atheist! Watch Montrail's video to see if this is the shoe for you because my pair convinced me that its a reliable statement and not company puffery. My favorite running shoe ever.

Versatile, Durable, Great Support- Top of the Line

I used to run trail in the same shoes that I ran on the road in- thinking there couldn't be much difference. My mind changed instantly once i slipped on a pair of Montrail Fairhavens. Not only do they fit me perfectly, but they feel great after hours of use. I recently completed the R2R2R in a pair of Fairhavens and was the only member of my group that escaped without a single hot-spot or blister. After about 700 miles of usage, the shoe is begin to deteriorate. This is typical, and even ideal for a trail shoe! I love these shoes and now I wouldn't consider buying anything but Montrail.

Really want to love this shoe but...

The foam on the bottom of the heel keeps coming apart. I have gone through 3 pairs of the Fairhavens since May 1st 2011. It seems after a few miles on the trails either the front starts peeling off or the foam on the back of the heel comes apart. No problems on the road, but on they can't handle the trail! If it weren't for the problems with the heel, I would love this shoe. It is the most comfortable trail shoe I've owned and it fits great. I could run 50 miles and not have to change shoes - they are that comfortable.

Comfortable ride

I've been abusing my Fairhavens for the past five months now, and they are holding up well! They're comfortable, durable, and look good too. Also, a good everyday shoe.

Awesome Trail!

This is a great trail shoe! Lightweight and great cushion. Grip is awesome for cutbacks.

Nice versatile shoe.

Nice cushion with superior traction makes for a great hybrid shoe as advertised. I really like the technology in this shoe. Toe box fit is too snug on me. This will be a great shoe for any foot that can handle a slightly tighter shoe in the toe area.
