While Montrail has yet to recycle tires into new kicks you can wear, we’re trying
to take a bite out of the impact we make when producing, selling and delivering
our footwear to you.
Our new Montrail shoeboxes have been redesigned to use less cardboard
yet still deliver the same great product in great condition. We’ve stripped the
boxes of all extra packaging. We no longer stuff our shoes with paper just to make
them look puffy. Those pesky hang tags (which get in the way when you fit new shoes)
are gone. Brochures or stickers that detail footwear care, technologies and fitting
techniques are now located here on our website.
We have no consumer catalog. While it’s enjoyable to peruse a well-crafted
catalog with pretty pictures, is it worth the price and cost in paper, ink, postage
and energy, when all of this beta can be found at www.montrail.com?
What else are we doing to reduce, recycle, reuse? Office recycling bins.
Gently used boots and shoes donated to outdoor programs benefiting
at-risk teens, the victims of Hurricane Katrina, or the homeless. Reuse of shipping
boxes and packagingincluding those hateful plastic peanuts. Incentives
to bike to work or use alternative commuting methods. And of course,
we aim to create high quality footwear built to last so that your
purchase is a worthy investment.
And what can you do with your Montrail shoebox? We make them do double duty as:
- photo organizers
- CD holders
- employee-of-the-month contest box
- computer stand
- dioramas
- gift boxes
- correspondence containers
- catch-all junk drawer, and
- a place for smelly shoes to rest ‘til their next outing.
We’re trying to do our part for the environment.
Thank you for doing your part, too.
