I use this for:
Trail running

Horrible Soles

My husband bought these shoes on a Saturday. The very next Saturday he went for his first long run on trail in these shoes and by the end of the run the sole was beginning to come off. This is his third pair (and I've owned a few pairs myself) of Montrails and our first problem with quality. Now the true test comes...customer service.

Good could have been Great

Overall I do think this is a Good shoe for its intended use. The two biggest problems, which are quite substantial: a) the Gusset on the tongue of the shoe does not come all the way to the top - leaving plenty of room for trail debris to enter easily, b) The cut along the ankle is a bit too low - leading to the same problem as mentioned above - too easy for trail debris to enter. Shimano makes a great winter cycling shoe that has a compressed neoprene "collar" around the ankle. It would have been great to see this kind of thinking employed here as well. If this shoe was designed with the ability to keep more trail debris out - it would have made this Good shoe, Great!
