Best Trail Running Memory of 2009: Crewing and pacing Mandy Hosford at the Wasatch
100.
As her coach I knew what she was
capable of, but no one else thought she’d break the previous course
record.
To see all her hard work come to
fruition and to be a part of it all was an incredible experience.
Favorite Trail Ultra: Devil’s Backbone 50 miler, Bozeman, MT
Beer or wine: nuun
Trail Shoe of choice and why: I’m a pretty die-hard Montrail Hardrock fan. My feet take a beating and I’ve had neuroma issues. The Hardrock’s protective plate helps keep my feet happy. It also has great traction and drains real well.
Objective #1 for 2010: Get in to the Hardrock 100.
Best race in 2009: I was hurt the entire year trying to figure out how to fix a neuroma in my foot. I eventually had surgery. I did however sneak in a win at the Big Tahoma 6hr Rogaine Orienteering race.
Person Who has Influences You the Most: My father. Every man is trying to live up to his father’s expectations or make up for his mistakes. I’m still trying to do both.
When I’m Not Running I Prefer to… read.
If A Genie Would Grant Me One Wish: I’d wish for Sean “Pukey” Meissner to have an iron stomach in ultras longer than 50 miles.
When in Need of Rest and Relaxation I… do some yoga or play with Eddie the Jack Russell Terrignar.
